For the third year in a row, Melba International Design Festival features the Diploma Project exhibition in its program, showcasing the thesis works of students across various fields — ranging from sculpture and design to illustration, set design, and fashion. The exhibition aims to highlight the diversity in techniques, media, and topics that resonate with the young generation today, while also offering insights into how they envision the future.
After careful selection for the third edition of the series, the focus is on young talent Danail Kapchin, who graduated this year with a Bachelor's degree in Fashion from New Bulgarian University, Sofia. His primary interests and focus in his work revolve around sociology, philosophy, esotericism, as well as the interconnections between form and energy and the exploration of natural laws — seeking balance between form and function. Within the exhibition, Danail will present his diploma project, which won second place in the international competition for young fashion designers, IDEAMODA, organized by New Bulgarian University in partnership with Ivan Asen 22, Studio Komplekt, and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (CCIB).
The fashion collection Pandæmonium explores the role of "demons" in contemporary society through the language of clothing. The collection is inspired by the concept of the seven deadly sins, various classic paintings, and religious-occult works such as Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, John Milton's Paradise Lost, and Goethe's Faust. Pandæmonium invites visitors to step into a sensory-engaging space and participate in a provocative experiment that skillfully blends forms, silhouettes, scents, and sound through the non-verbal language of fashion.
