The exhibition &NOWEAST, part of the international MELBA Festival and the Design Initiatives in the City program, presents a selection of posters that rewrite the visual language of Eastern Europe. Positioned between the analogue and the digital, the local and the universal, And Now East affirms the poster as a living medium — where the image becomes a field for dialogue, shared experience, and new interpretations of our collective present.
&NOWEAST is a festival and cultural platform dedicated to visual culture and contemporary graphic design in Eastern Europe. Founded by Local Design Circle (Bucharest, Romania), the project explores how the poster can function simultaneously as a tool for communication, social commentary, and artistic expression.
At the core of the initiative lies the desire to showcase the richness and diversity of the Eastern European visual scene — a space where tradition, irony, and experimentation intertwine. The participating artists present visual narratives of identity, belonging, memory, and transformation, turning the poster into a mirror reflecting the cultural tensions and aspirations of the region.
