Johan Moorman

Johan Moorman is a Dutch artist and designer, born in Eindhoven in 1979. His creative path began in the graffiti scene of the 1990s and later continued at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Since then, he has developed a multifaceted practice that moves freely between art, design, illustration, spatial installations and the public realm.

His work is influenced by the visual world of arcade games, the geometric compositions of M.C. Escher, Lego, De Stijl, Pop Art and the Memphis Group. These references come together in vivid graphic compositions that turn space into a place for play, discovery and imagination. Moving between avant-garde design and Anti-Design, Moorman creates self-contained visual worlds in which form, colour and space are in constant interaction.

Over the years, Moorman and his team have developed projects for a wide range of cultural institutions, organisations and public spaces, including Dutch Design Week, KLM, Starbucks, Nationale Nederlanden, Blind Walls Gallery, Eindhoven Maker Faire, Bataleon, Campina, Canyon and Pakhuis de Zwijger, as well as the municipalities of Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Dordrecht and Heerlen.
