The Smell
Mila Yaneva-Tabakova works in illustration, comics, and book design, and is the co-founder of the independent publishing platform TI-RE and the collection Tirazh Books. For the exhibition, she presents a comic on the chushkopek theme and a series of “images in search of a word.” Her playful childhood association—Ushkopek (“ear-roaster”)—reappears subtly in the work and the image of luitenitza cooked outside in a big pot. The story, as she notes, “has an ending known from the start.”
