DUMBAR/DEPT® is one of the most awarded design agencies internationally since it was founded in 1977 by Dutch graphic designer Gert Dumbar. The Rotterdam-based studio’s work is focused in visual communication and online branding, and their landmark is highly distinctive in the cluttered market landscape. They work with governmental, non-governmental and cultural organizations, as well as established private sector brands including Spotify, Adidas, the Dutch Railways, The Hague Panorama Mesdag, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Dutch design festival DEMO, the innovation district Cumulus Park in Amsterdam, the Dutch government, the football team Club Brugge (Belgium) and many more.

As part of the MELBA symposium, we present to you Liza Enebis, Creative Director at Studio Dumbar/DEPT®. Liza is directly involved in all of the studio’s main projects, such as the visual identity for Amsterdam Sinfonietta, D&AD Creativity festival, brand refresh of the van Gogh Museum and co-initiator of DEMO – Design in Motion Festival. She is an MA Design graduate from the Royal College of Art, London. Before joining Studio Dumbar she worked for Pentagram London for several years. As of 2018 she has been elected member into the prestigious design association AGI, Alliance Graphique Internationale. And since 2021 she is part of the D&AD Board of trustees – the Design and Advertising Association in the UK.

Along with Liza Enebis, MELBA Symposium will also present Wanwai Shum, graphic designer from Studio Dumbar/DEPT®. Whether working on projects at the studio or personal projects, Wanwai adores exploring intricate and rhythmic visuals and pushing her design practice to communicate across cultures and disciplines.
