The collection thematizes the need of a fully body cleanup. Not only the environment suffers, but also our mind and our senses are polluted by the surrounding cacophony and the hectic lifestyle. For the collection I reused and modified second-hand clothes, mirror surfaces and print materials. The silhouettes give a visual impression of the overconsumption, but they offer also an alternative – the outerwear symbolizes the feeling of overload and accumulation, whereas the clothes beneath are with light materials and clean forms, and they are totally wearable.
The collection can be characterized as slow fashion. A concept, which more and more people tend to appreciate, because of their wish to wear fashion not only in a limited design, but also made with respect to the environment. All of the collection pieces are available only by preorder.
The Exhausted Future is my diploma collection and I would not have been able to make it without the support of my teacher Alexander Gerginov. I started my work on the collection with extensive research. When the topic and my direction of work acquired contours I made a lot of images of piles of clothes and on the basis of this I developed the silhouettes and the prints.
The project was realized in the time frame of 7 months and its first presentation was in 2019. Since then the collection has been shown in fashion shows and exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. Some of the clothes have made appearances in the opera and in a music video clip. The collection is more than fashion, that’s why my work has often been exhibited as art and as we know the life of art is usually much longer.
I have made the collection in my room, which in the last years has turned into a well-equipped studio. Everybody who is interested in my design, can contact me on Instagram.www.instagram.com/aneliyantova
